Resources for Providing Substitutes with Files and Curriculum

Red Rover

Red Rover offers a dedicated Sub Notes section where you can upload all the information and documents your substitutes might need for the day. When a substitute is assigned to cover your class, they will automatically receive this information. You can set this up in advance to ensure everything is ready when needed!

Steps to Add Content:

1. Upload to Google Drive:

   • Place your documents in Google Drive.

   • Click the Share button at the top-right of the document.

   • Select “Copy link.”

2. Insert Link in Red Rover:

   • Use the link button in the Sub Notes section to paste your Google Drive link.

   • Important: Delete any auto-filled text before pasting your link.

   • Set Sharing Permissions to ensure substitutes can access the file.

3. Save Changes:
   Don’t forget to click “Save” to retain your updates!

Clever

Clever provides an easy way for teachers to give substitutes access to their resources and Teacher Page.

Teacher Experience:

1. Log in to your Clever Portal.

2. Navigate to Pages > Teacher Pages on the left sidebar.

3. Click the Teacher Page you want to share with the substitute.

4. In the top-right corner, click “Share with substitute.”

This will open a preview of what the substitute will see when they log in with their Sub Badge. Please note, Google and other "restricted impersonation" apps will be greyed out for security reasons.

Generating a Sub Badge:

1. Click “Create Substitute Badge” in the top-right corner.

2. The badge (QR code) will download to your computer.

3. Note: The badge will expire in 5 days.

Uploading the Clever QR Code to Google Drive:

1. After downloading the Sub Badge QR code, upload the file to your Google Drive.

2. Click the Share button on the uploaded file and select “Copy link.”

3. Go to Red Rover, and in the Sub Notes section, paste the link for the QR code along with any other important instructions that are not already included in the downloaded QR code document.

4. Important: Ensure the sharing permissions are set so the substitute can access the QR code without issues.

Substitute Experience:

• Substitutes will scan their Sub Badge to access Clever.

• They will only be able to view the Teacher Page shared with them.

• Substitutes can use any applications available on that page, except for restricted apps (e.g., Google).

  • Students can still access these restricted apps from their own Clever Portal.
